6/364 Branch

Above Pete and me presenting Billy, Terry Simm's dad with a plaque in memory of Terry who died after a long illness, Terry was a gentle giant and a loyal member of the T&G 6/364 branch, he lived to fish and if he wasnt working he was fishing, Pete and i worked with Terry at Sainsbury's, Haydock, "Terry if anyone ask's mate we'll just say you've gone fishin" 

Did you know The original Liverpool TGWU office, was situated in Islington it was bulldosed in the seventies to make way for a new office (which is still standing) however our distict office finally moved to Sefton St, Toxteth.

This was a proud day for me, to meet a legend, the great Jack Jones, it was at the unveiling of a new name for Transport House, Liverpool and as you can see aptly named "Jack Jones House" sadly Jack passed away on the 21st of April  this year.                

Did you Know The TGWU was formed on the 1st January 1922 with a membership of 350,000 made up from 14 other unions which included, dockers,factory workers, transport workers and our first General Secretary was Ernest Bevin, to read more about the history of our great union go to www.unionhistory.info/

The 6/364 branch decided to sponsor a young lads football team, Newton town, and the lads turned up at a branch meeting to show off their new kit, our members have decided to sponsor the lads again so watch out for them showing off their new kit yet again
